DAN PIERSON

Head Coach - Boys Water Polo

Daniel grew up in Orange County, California and began his water polo career with the TRAP water polo club. He attended El Toro High school where he was a three-year varsity letterman and continued his playing career at Golden West Community College where he won the 2002 State championship. In 2003 he joined the United States Navy and had a 20-year career in Naval Special warfare.

Upon his retirement he began his coaching career. He was previously the Junior Varsity coach at Poway High School and
Poway Valley Water Polo club.

GIRLS WATER POLO

Crystal Patterson

Head Coach – Varsity Girls Water Polo

Crystal played water polo for four years Mt. Carmel High in San Diego. During her senior year the team went undefeated and were Palomar League Champions. Crystal continued her water polo career at Mesa College where selected as 2nd team All-Conference her first year and 1st team All-Conference her second year where she helped guide the team to a 7th place finish in the CCCAA tournament.

Crystal has ten years of water polo coaching experience and has been a swim coach for seven years. She was an assistant coach with Mt. Carmel during the 2012 season when they won the CIF Championship Title. Crystal was also a part of the coaching staff at Rancho Bernardo High School for their run to States in 2015. She coached both boys and girls water polo at Mt. Carmel and has also coached boys water at Rancho Bernardo High School for a couple of seasons.

As the head coach of the Poway Girls Water Polo team Crystal has guided the team to a 2019 CIF and State Championship. This is her third season as the head of the girls water polo program at Poway High.
